D.W. Speer and Charles R. Schellenger founded PeopLease Corporation in February 1994 with an idea that would revolutionize the trucking industry. PeopLease quickly built a strong customer base and became endorsed by the National Association of Small Trucking Companies as the truck driver leasing business of choice. Since that time, PeopLease has grown rapidly, with an understanding of the transportation industry.  The company's key executives, sales personnel, safety and loss control personnel, and key payroll technicians all have major transportation backgrounds and experience.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

D.W. Speer
D.W. Speer is co-founder and co-owner of PeopLease Corporation. He has 34 years of experience in Transportation Risk Management and Safety and Human Resource Management with major companies such as KLLM, Roberson/PFT, Pilot Freight Carriers, ARA Services, and Tucker Freight Lines. Mr. Speer holds B.S. and MBA degrees from Indiana University and has held several committee chair positions within the American Trucking Association and Risk and Insurance Management Society. Mr. Speer has been honored with being named the ATA Safety Director of the Year as well as chairman of the ATA Safety Council. South Carolina, Indiana and Michigan trucking associations have also honored him for being their Safety Director of the Year. Mr. Speer is also on the Board of Directors for the Truckload Carriers Association and the National Private Truck Council.

Charles R. Schellenger
Charles Schellenger, co-founder and co-owner of PeopLease Corporation, has more than 30 years experience in both domestic and international finance and senior management in a variety of industries, including trucking and insurance. Mr. Schellenger, who has a Masters' degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), has been on the board of a number of organizations and currently serves on the Government Affairs Council of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO). Mr. Schellenger also is a member of the Board of Directors of the Certification Institute, an independent workers' compensation Best Practices certifying organization, and is on the PEO Roundtable of the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs.

Vice President of Administration
Susan Schellenger
Mrs. Schellenger has over 34 years experience in office management, administration and personnel as well as experience in the legal field.  Since inception of PeopLease, she has been responsible for all administrative functions, including the preparation of service agreements, the hiring of all corporate personnel, payroll, 401(k) administration, office management and purchasing.  Prior to PeopLease, Mrs. Schellenger held various management positions for Joseph Land Group, which consists of five transportation companies.  She was also a Legal Assistant and Trust Administrator for Foley & Lardner, the largest law firm in the state of Wisconsin.

Risk & Safety Manager
Scott Kilton
Mr. Kilton has over 35 years experience within the transportation industry and distribution logistics field including risk management, loss control, safety and compliance.  With DOT and OSHA certifications, he has designed and implemented various safety programs as well as drug and alcohol programs.  He has also audited, monitored and improved DOT compliance, managed driver-recruiting programs, and directed loss control programs.  Mr. Kilton has held various management positions within the trucking industry where he has significantly improved operations.

James D. Downey
Mr. Downey has over 25 years experience within the transportation industry including risk management, loss control, safety and compliance.  He has significant background of experience in sound field underwriting, safety auditing, facility inspections, and workplace evaluations.  Mr. Downey is certified by DOT, OSHA, and the National Safety Council.  He is licensed to practice the specialty of transportation law.

Steve Seger
Mr. Seger has over 25 years of experience in the transportation, trucking, warehousing and logistics arenas. He has held various management positions including, Logistics Manager, Safety Director and General Manager in trucking and General Manager in the warehousing industry. Mr. Seger managed all aspects of traffic and sales with coordination of national accounts shipments, set up and supervised trucking company offices and agencies throughout the Midwest and handled and prepared freight claims. In warehousing, Mr. Seger worked to develop operating policies and procedures that included capital improvements and P&L, while facilitating annual capital budgets for maintenance and upkeep of building and refrigeration equipment. Currently with PeopLease, Mr. Seger focuses on risk management that includes safety, compliance, and overall loss control with a direct emphasis on workers compensation.

Stu Churchill
Mr. Churchill has over 16 years of managerial experience within the transportation industry including risk management, loss control, recruiting, safety, and human resource compliance. He received his BA and MBA at Ottawa University. With DOT, Corporate Compliance, and SHRM certifications, Mr. Churchill has designed, implemented, and managed recruiting, safety, and risk programs for all facets of the transportation industry. He has managed DOT, EEOC, and OSHA audits as well as performing mock audits, to improve the overall compliance of companies within the transportation industry.  Mr. Churchill has worked within and gained knowledge of all areas of the trucking industry, finding ways to improve and manage the overall cost of risk and safety compliance.

Brandy Drake
Mrs. Drake has held numerous positions within safety operations of the trucking industry utilizing over ten years of experience in the fields of logistics, safety, and regulatory compliance. Mrs. Drake uses her background as Safety Director and Workers’ Compensation Assistant Manager to assess risk exposure and develop specific action plans and proactive measures to reduce accidents and occupational hazards for the clients of PeopLease Corporation, and she organizes accident and loss prevention programs to improve safety and decrease liability. She also monitors safety compliance, conducts loss control site surveys, and develops customized safety programs for PeopLease clients. Mrs. Drake is a member of the SCTA and GMTA.

Human Resources & Benefits Manager
Deborah Hiott
Ms. Hiott has over 16 years experience in human resources and 25 years experience in benefits administration.  She holds an associates degree in Business Administration as well as certificates from Professional Human Resource Management and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Workers' Compensation Manager
Patrick Cronin
Mr. Cronin has over 21 years of experience in the workers’ compensation industry, 14 of which were dedicated to the management of various claims administration operations. He received his BA in Criminal Justice from Louisiana State University and has obtained several insurance related designations, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, Accredited Advisor in Insurance, Associate in Risk Management and Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional. Mr. Cronin is responsible for the overall management of PeopLease Corporation’s workers’ compensation department.

Corporate Counsel
Monica Reese
Mrs. Reese oversees all corporate affairs involving legal issues at PeopLease Corporation. She received her BA at the University of Georgia and Juris Doctorate at the University of Georgia School of Law. Mrs. Reese is a member of the South Carolina Bar specializing in Workers' Compensation and Human Resources issues affecting the transportation industry. She also holds memberships in the Risk and Insurance Management Society, American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, Charleston Bar Association, and the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association.
